“We’re delighted and honored by this recognition from both the City of Sanibel and Mayor Kevin Ruane,” says Tony Lapi, Chief Executive Officer of Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts. Presented to ownership and management of Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts this past week, West Wind Island Resort consistently ranks today as one of Southwest Florida’s top island resorts among user-generated travel review sites - and certainly, tops in the minds and hearts of the thousands of guests who’ve visited over the years, many of them second- and third-generation visitors. The skies were blue, the temperatures perfect for a Sanibel spring, and as the sun rose over the eastern horizon, a new day in island hospitality was dawning with the groundbreaking of what is today West Wind Island Resort, the “Official Beach Resort of Sanibel Island.” To commemorate the occasion now 50 years later, Sanibel Mayor Kevin Ruane has declared an official proclamation recognizing West Wind Island Resort of Sanibel Island for our half-century of successful island hospitality. Thanks Jean and Joanne for making a mini vacation relaxing and enjoyable, we will never forget and we will definatly be back. The year was 1968. The Sunshine Inn will have our weekend getaways and vacations if we are staying in FL.and the rates are very reasonable only suggestion is maybe have FL residents specials ( All I can say is try The Sunshine Inn out you won't be disappointed. Pool right outside you sliding glass door, a shelling area, a mini dock and directly on a river and across the street from the beach best of both worlds shells and fishing, FREE use of the washer and dryer and they are NEW and a wall to write on how cool is that ?. Rooms very very clean, towels were new and soft, the beds comfortable and no CARPET which is great with dogs and sand and people with allergies. Well let me tell you, The Sunshine Inn is the place to be if you are looking for a quiet, quaint, tranquil tropical setting, easy beach access (directly across the street) and very pet friendly this is the Inn and city to be in, we were amazed. We was looking for a place in FL for a mini vacation that would not break the bank and accept my dogs without paying a pet fee that would not break the bank and since I live in FL I have been to many destinations, but I had not been to Sanibel in over 17 years and my partner had never been to Sanibel off we went.
